YOUNG TURKS
An extremely innovative and well visually branded label; home of the XX, SBTRKT, Holy Fuck & Sampha amongst others. Formed by Caius Pawson in the Ladbroke Grove area of London initially as a subsidiary and more independent outlet for XL Recordings. With a large majority of their 100 or so releases coming from the ever successful and mercury prize winning XX camp, Young Turks have used the XX sound as an identifier to their well established deep and electronic sound. Releasing the masked branded and electronically pioneered SBTRKT album to a critical acclaim enthused response spread Young Turks’ credibility into the nightclub scene also. With more recent releases from artists such as Sampha and FKA Twigs alongside consistent releases from Jamie XX and the XX, Young Turks have their fingers in all sorts of artistic pies.
